Giuseppe Zigaina (Cervignano del Friuli 2/04/1924 - Palmanova 16/04/2015). The immediate post-war he encounters with Pier Paolo Pasolini, which provides bonds of deep friendship and community ideals and passions, that will last until the death of Pasolini.
In 1950 Zigaina was invited by the Biennale di Venezia with three works: “Occupazione delle terre”, “Biciclette e falci”, “Erba ai conigli”.
During his actual career, Zigaina exhibited with qualified awards worldwide, but now he lives rooted in Cervignano del Friuli, alternating periods of work with long trips through Europe.
He has worked with P. P. Pasolini films “Teorema” e “Decameron”.
Important is his work where graphic etchings and books artist living between sign and sign with the urgency meditated wonderful richness of his poetic world.
With Marsilio he published “Pasolini e la morte. Mito, alchimia e semantica del nulla lucente” (1987), “Pasolini tra enigma e profezia” (1989), “Pasolini e l’ abiura” (1994), “Hostia”. For his research work on Pasolini, as well as for his works as a painter, Zigaina was incorporated in Bayerische Akademie der Schonen Kunsten of Muchen.
In 2009 the exhibition "Zigaina. Opere 1942-2009", at Villa Manin di Passariano, whose quality of selected works it was the largest that has ever been dedicated to Zigaina.
Giuseppe Zigaina is at the outside Italian Pavilion of the 54th Venice Biennale 2011, Friuli Venezia Giulia region, at Magazzino 26 of Porto Vecchio in Trieste.
