Vincenzo Eulisse (Venice 1936 - 2024) attracted the attention of critics with his first solo exhibition in 1958 at the Galleria Bevilacqua La Masa, by Giorgio Trentin and Mario De Micheli. His paintings are realistic recount of the early world of the workers, peasants, fishermen. Initially he exposed repeatedly at Bevilacqua La masa and at “Il Traghetto” the of Gianni De Marco.
After a long stay in East Germany, where he studied life drawing and sculpture, he stresses the character of his expressionist works. In 1960 Raffaele De Grada assigns Suzzara Prize, which opens the doors of "Galleria 32" where he presented the wall: a series of paintings accompanied by a critical support by Toni Toniato. At that time in Venice was born the Galleria Internazionale, in which the artist establishes a collaboration with Enzo Di Martino, who still lasts.
Eulisse gradually reveals eclectic painter, dynamic and evolving, socially engaged: at the turn of the sixties and seventies he is a member of the Cultural Commission of the Italian Communist Party and with Basaglia, Chinello, Federici, Gianquinto, Nono Perusini, Pizzinato, Vedova participate to the great cultural debate of that period in Venice. In the meantime it was born the "Bridge Brera - Venice" and Eulisse opens with an artistic collaboration with Marzulli, Merisi, Forgioli, Petrus, Valieri and Ruggero Savinio.
In the seventies and eighties he exhibited in galleries in Milan "Bon a tirer," "Borgogna", "Cortina", "Schubert" and "Galleria delle incisioni”. He also joins the Venice Biennale in 1972 and 1976. He sets up a provocative Hall of South Africa in 1986 to margins of the Venice Biennale, as vehement protest against apartheid. In 1989 in Milan runs a fresco on the wall of 195 square meters of hall of the Palace of Justice.
In the palace of the Prisons in Venice, Luciano Ravagnan organized an exhibition of large-scale in 1991 at which the newspaper "La Stampa" devotes an article entitled "Don Chisciotte of Art - In Venice, the painter of protest." In 1992 he exhibited at the "Mario Ravagnan Gallery in New York.
In 1993 he exhibited at the Church of St.Niccolò of Cingoli an exhibition organized in collaboration with the Festival of Sanremo and he is also present in a room at the Venice Biennale of Sacred Art. In 1994 he exhibited at the Museo d'Arte Moderna - Cà Pesaro - Venice. Il Corriere della Sera, devotes an article on the work of recent years "Epic pop for a cybernetic hero - Thirty-six posters cries of an enfant terrible of the seventies", in the same year he wrote "I tredici racconti" edition "I Veneziani". In 1998 he held a solo show at the "Galleria Mediterranea" of Reggio Calabria. In 2000 a fresco on the facade of a building in Bolzano creating the Office of the outline approved architectural and artistic and he exposes the "Scola and the Tiraoro Battioro"in Campo San Stae with the painters Basaglia and Zotti. In 2001, Il Corriere della Sera, devotes an article on the occasion of an exhibition at the Galleria Civica of Cortina d'Ampezzo with title "Caro Hemingway”. In March 2002 the newspaper "Oggi" devotes an article on the occasion of an exhibition in Lugano. In June 2003 he along with other artists in an exhibition space Thetis "in memory of Captain Nemo" organized by the Cultural Perelà. Commissioned by the Galleria Bugno Art Gallery Eulisse creates a wooden sculpture in front of the La Fenice called "tribute to the poet”, he also inaugurated the Galleria d’Arte "Il chiostro of San Giovanni" in Bassano an exhibition entitled "C’era una volta il traghetto" dedicated to the art dealer Gianni De Marco. Then it shows in New York with his latest works. He lives in Venice. The year 2011 marks the return of Eulisse at the International Gallery of Modern Art of Ca 'Pesaro in Venice with the exibition "Macchina da tempo".
For the 54. Art Venice Biennale 2011, during the many openings, there was another provocation by Vincenzo Eulisse: is there at the Biennale the Mediterranean Pavilion? Indeed not. Among the many billboards you can look closely and discover a tarot full-blown. "54. Venice Biennale" written in an improvised character and color, and with the complete absence of the official logo of the event. The initiative promoted, the elusive Mediterranean Pavilion, doesn't appear on the program of Biennale. Closer, you read better the signature on the design that decorates the manifesto: we are talking about of Eulisse.
From 7 to 19 November 2011 the exhibition "Vittorio Basaglia Vincenzo Eulisse Alberto Gianquinto" in Venice at Centro Espositivo Veneta Artigianale, in collaboration with the Concilio Europeo dell'Arte and the Art Gallery Flavio Stocco.
On 2012 from 22/07 to 19/08, the exhibition "L'approdo" at the Massimiliana Tower of St. Erasmo, Venice.
